| I find drumming, my meditation. It takes me places and opens up thoughts, ideas and worlds. It allows me to find my center, and is a place of peace in a very discontent and disturbing world · I live in Riverside, California where I grew up - mostly. · I am a mother - I "have" 3 young adults - 22, 20, and 20. That is if you can "have' young adults. I am more of a mother now to my four dogs and three cats. · I am a wife - I have a very blessed relationship with a very wonderful man. It has not always been this way. We were married a year on Valentine's Day. On the other hand I do not see myself as a "Housewife" since that part of the job is my least favorite thing. · In the real world - the "play world" world - I am a drummer and healer. I first discovered drummer thru a friend of mine who had been to a Layne Redmond workshop. I got myself a video of Layne's, and sent months learning the Tambourine and the Tar. Since then I have been to four of her workshops over the past four years- Tambourine, Tar, Odd Time rhythms, and eastern rhythms. I have recently working on the information from her last class on the CD Trans Union as a way to continue my own skills as a drummer. · I have played in drum circles for about three years now. I have completed Arthur Hull's workshop on Facilitating Community Building Drum Circles. Being aware of where drumming can take you I would like to share this with other people. My goal is to work with kids and elderly people in drumming circles. I would also like to take drumming into hospitals - as a performance. In my world these are all people and places who need extra healing - My Mission Statement My mission is to share what I have learned about fear, love, energy and life. About Spirit. In this world, as in all worlds, the most awesome thing we have is that we are all connected. - connected in love. There are many ways to touch that connectedness. For me it is through the drum. In our fears, we put up walls between us. We create "reasons" why we can not be as who we really are. We feel way too unsafe to open up and feel the oneness that is. In drumming with others we create a spiritual energy that opens us up to one another, that allows us to experience the connectedness that we share. As so many time I have sat in a drum circle and felt Spirit, have heard Spirit, have touched the reality on being coming one with my fellow drummers, so others need the opportunity to feel the same. In sharing drumming, it is one path- one way - that I can show others this connectedness, this Spirit. It is therefore my Mission to find ways to give people healing and the chance to experience Spirit in this way. |
